Allen was born in September 1905 in Wrexham.1  Allen's father was Richard Thomas Jones and his mother was Mary Elizabeth Eddowes.  His maternal grandparents were <unknown> and Elizabeth Eddowes. He had five brothers and a sister, named William, George, Harold, Arthur, Percy and Margaret.  He was the third oldest of the seven children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named John, Elizabeth and Margaret.  He died at the age of 5 in September 1910 in Wrexham.1
