Selina's father was Jonathan Isherwood and her mother was Margaret Bentley.  Her paternal grandparents were William Isherwood and Mary Hardman. She had four brothers and eight sisters, named William, Lawrence, Jonathan, Henry, Jane, Mary, Ann, Sarah, Margaret, Rachel, Louisa and Martha.  She was the fifth youngest of the thirteen children.  She died in 1857 in Turton.¹
