Louisa's father was Jonathan Isherwood and her mother was Margaret Bentley.  Her paternal grandparents were William Isherwood and Mary Hardman. She had four brothers and eight sisters, named William, Lawrence, Jonathan, Henry, Jane, Mary, Ann, Sarah, Margaret, Selina, Rachel and Martha.  She was the second youngest of the thirteen children.
