Mary's father was Robert Hopley and her mother was Jane Pugh. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Hopley and Mary Williams. She had a brother and two sisters, named Arthur, Mary and Clara. She was the youngest of the four children. She died at the age of 73 on January 6th, 1958 in Ruabon. Her burial was in January 1958 at the Trefynant Cemetery.²³
