Florrie's father was Clifford Davies and her mother was Alice Ann Thorpe. Her maternal grandparents were Robert Thorpe and Nancy Mather. She had two brothers and three sisters, named George, Thomas, Alice, Ethel and Nellie. She was the second oldest of the six children.
