Elizabeth was born in 1836 in Broughton (Hawarden).1  Elizabeth's father was Samuel Davies and her mother was Jane Jones.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Davies and Rachel Millington. She had six brothers and two sisters, named Edward, Thomas, John, Samuel, George, William, Rachel and Jane.  She was the youngest of the nine children.
