George was born on May 5th, 1826 in Hawarden and his baptism took place there on May 28th, 1826.1  George's father was Samuel Davies and his mother was Jane Jones.  His paternal grandparents were Edward Davies and Rachel Millington. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Edward, Thomas, John, Samuel, William, Rachel, Jane and Elizabeth.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
