Joseph Crosland

Joseph was born in 1737 in Butternab and his baptism took place on May 14th, 1737 in Almondbury.¹

Joseph's father was John Crosland Jnr and his mother was Hanah Breadly. His paternal grandparents were John Crosland Snr and Anne Royd. He had three brothers named William, Jonathan and Thomas. He was the second oldest of the four children. He had three half-brothers named James, Stephen and Charles.

- Joseph was head of the family, being witness to his brothers marriages.
  
  25 Apr 1759, Joseph Crosland of Dungoon married Sarah Mowberry, also of Dungeon,. both of the parish of Almondbury. This is probably near Dungeon Mill, Lockwood (now the North end of Beaumont Park and Butternab).
