Charles Crosland

Charles was born in 1753 in Butternab and his baptism took place on June 5th, 1754 in Honley.¹

  John Crosland of Butternab died April 1753, so Charles was baptised after his father's death

Charles' father was John Crosland Jnr and his mother was Ellen Firth. His paternal grandparents were John Crosland Snr and Anne Royd. He had two brothers named James and Stephen. He was the youngest of the three children. He had four half-brothers named William, Joseph, Jonathan and Thomas. He died after 1801.

General Notes
- Charles may have moved to Silkstone with Stainborough, where he married Ann Pontifract in 1785 (or Mary Jump 20 Feb 1776 by license at Croston near Layland, Lancashire).
  
  Actually, on 27 Nov 1791, Charles (37y) married Hannah Oxley at Almondbury. This is confirmed by her Almondbury burial in 1801, recorded as wife of Charles of Newsome, aged 50 (so of a similar age).
  
  In 1801, Charles was still alive living at Newsome when his wife Hannah died.
