Wilbraham was born on December 10th, 1906 in Chorley and his baptism took place there on February 10th, 1907.1  Wilbraham's father was Wilbraham Robert Brooks and his mother was Mary Alice Banks.  His maternal grandparents were John Banks and Mary Higson. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named John, Leslie, Fred, Ethel, Emily, Ann, Mary, Eliza, Esther and Edith.  He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children.
