Eliza's father was Wilbraham Robert Brooks and her mother was Mary Alice Banks.  Her maternal grandparents were John Banks and Mary Higson. She had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Wilbraham, Leslie, Fred, Ethel, Emily, Ann, Mary, Esther and Edith.  She was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.  She died at the age of 80 in June 1989 in Chorley.³
