Emily was born in September 1901 in Chorley.¹

Birth Notes

Emily's father was Wilbraham Robert Brooks and her mother was Mary Alice Banks. Her maternal grandparents were John Banks and Mary Higson. She had four brothers and six sisters, named John, Wilbraham, Leslie, Fred, Ethel, Ann, Mary, Eliza, Esther and Edith. She was the third oldest of the eleven children.
