Annie was born in 1851 in Wolstanton.1  Annie's father was William Brereton and her mother was Mary Stanyer.  Her paternal grandparents were Randle Brereton and Sarah Buckley. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Randle, William, Randle, Abraham, James, George, Hannah, Sarah, Mary and Emma.  She was the youngest of the eleven children.
