William Booth

William was born in 1809 in Tonge-with-Haulgh and his baptism took place on May 28th, 1809 at St. Peter's (Bolton).¹

  William, son of James & Mary Booth of G.B.

William's father was James Booth and his mother was Mary Shippobottom.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Booth and Ann Openshaw. He had two brothers and four sisters, named James, Thomas, Mary, Ann, Elizabeth and Sarah.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 67 in 1876.
