William Edward Berkenhout

William was born in 1857 in Broxton.¹

William's father was John Tomlinson Berkenhout and his mother was Margaret Tomlinson. His paternal grandparents were James Berkenhout and Elizabeth (Betty) Tomlinson; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Tomlinson and Martha Carr. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, John, Elizabeth, Amelia, Georgina and Henrietta. He was the third youngest of the seven known children.
