Henrietta was born in 1862 in Broxton.1   Henrietta's father was John Tomlinson Berkenhout and her mother was Margaret Tomlinson.  Her maternal grandparents were Thomas Tomlinson and Martha Carr. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Thomas, John, William, Elizabeth and Amelia.  She was the youngest of the six known children.
