Charles' father was Aldred Barker and his mother was Rose (Rosanna) Anna Evans. His maternal grandparents were John Evans (Whitall) and Elizabeth Eddowes. He had four brothers and four sisters, named John, James, Noel, Ben, Mary, Amelia, Elizabeth and Rosanna. He was the seventh oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 79 on November 27th, 1970 in Wigan.²
