Thomas was born in 1891 in Bolton.1  Thomas' father was Joseph Allen and his mother was Agnes Gregson.  His paternal grandparents were John Allen and Ellen Crank. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Joseph, Richard, John, Albert, Sydney, Martha, Mary, Agnes and Elizabeth.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.  He died at the age of 27 in 1918.  He was buried in 1918 at the Heaton Cemetery.2
