Christina Low's father was Peter Theodore Nicholson and her mother was Elizabeth Beath. Her paternal grandparents were John Nicholson and Janet McRostie; her maternal grandparents were James Beath and Christian Low. She had four brothers and two sisters, named James Beath, David, Alexander Reid, Edward Stewart, Janet (Nettie) and Elisabeth Beath. She was the second oldest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named John. She died at the age of 6 on May 7th, 1871 in Stirling, Stirlingshire, Scotland.
