Samuel Whitaker Tate 
Samuel Whitaker was born on February 14th, 1858.1 Samuel Whitaker's father was George Washington Tate and his mother was Rachel Whitaker. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Nelson Tate and Mary "Polly" Squires; his maternal grandparents were John Whitaker and Martha "Patsy" Stevens. He had four brothers and six sisters, named John Lannes, George Thomas, James Richard, William Levi, Martha Jane, Mary Emma, Rebecca Ann, Margaret Katherine, Rachel Elizabeth and Frances Lavina. He was the third oldest of the eleven children.1 -
