Mary Emma Tate 
Mary Emma was born on April 29th, 1860.1 Mary Emma's father was George Washington Tate and her mother was Rachel Whitaker. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Nelson Tate and Mary "Polly" Squires; her maternal grandparents were John Whitaker and Martha "Patsy" Stevens. She had five brothers and five sisters, named John Lannes, Samuel Whitaker, George Thomas, James Richard, William Levi, Martha Jane, Rebecca Ann, Margaret Katherine, Rachel Elizabeth and Frances Lavina. She was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 68 on June 9th, 1928 in Orange Co., N. C..1 -
