Harriet Dora was born in 1863 in Bucyrus, OH.1 Harriet Dora's father was John Messner and her mother was Margaret Catherine Gardner. Her paternal grandparents were Christian Messner and Eleanora; her maternal grandparents were James Gardiner and Mary McGinnis. She had a brother and five sisters, named Joseph John, Mary Ellen, Martha, Ida Belle, Margaret Jean and Jessie Jane. She was the third youngest of the seven children. She had a half-brother named Thomas William. She died in Sandusky, OH.1 General Notes

Family Legend: Family disowned Harriet and Hazel never knew she was her mother until Hazel applied for Social Security card and needed her birth record.
