Charles Cushing 
Charles was born on September 28th, 1826.1 Charles' father was Seth Cushing and his mother was Persis Peabody Thomas. His paternal grandparents were Seth Cushing and Hannah Bonney; his maternal grandparents were Elias Thomas and Mary Alden. He had three brothers named Thomas Seth, Horace Gay and George Wales. He was the oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 74 on October 25th, 1900 in Leavenworth, Kansas.1 General Notes

He was for many years a stenographer in the courts of Kansas. He was, also, considered an expert on the culture of fruits, and had charge of the Kansas Fruit exhibit at the Centennial Exposition at Philadelphia, 1876.
