Seth Cushing 
Seth was born on February 5th, 1795 in Kingston, Mass..1 Seth's father was Seth Cushing and his mother was Hannah Bonney. His paternal grandparents were Seth Cushing and Lydia Everson; his maternal grandfather was Nathaniel Bonney. He had a brother and four sisters, named James Everson, Hannah, Betsey, Lydia Fearing and Mary Thaxter. He was the oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 92 in 1887 in Middlebury, now Wyoming.1 General Notes

Seth Cushing held the degree of A.M. He went to Middlebury sometime before 1820, and was engaged as a teacher of Languages and Higher Mathematics, in the Middlebury Academy till his death. In consideration of his long and valuable services, the Trustees adopted a resolution that his children should be educated at the Academy free of expense. He was very methodical in all his habits, and was highly respected by all in the community, and by hundreds of students. He was the first classical teacher in the Academy, which was founded in 1817. It was also the first Academy west of the Genessee River. It was patronized by the best families in Western New York, and many of its students attained fame and fortune. The brick building is still standing [1905], and is used as a High School.
