Daniel Cushing 
Daniel was born in 1619 in Hingham, England.1 Daniel's father was Matthew Cushing and his mother was Nazareth Pitcher. His paternal grandparents were Peter Cushing and Susan Hawes; his maternal grandfather was Henry Pitcher. He had three brothers and a sister, named Jeremiah, Matthew, John and Deborah. He was the oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 81 in 1700 in Hingham, Mass..1 General Notes

A lot of land was granted to Daniel Cushing by the town of Hingham in 1665. He became a freemason in 1671, was an active magistrate, and for many years Town Clerk for Hingham. By faithful discharge of the duties of this last office, he rendered invaluable service to the modern antiquary. From 1682, and for many years, he kept a country store. He was selectman in 1685, an for many years after. In 1680-82 and in 1695 he was a delegate to the General Court. Two of his memorandum books containing many entries of much local value are in the possession of Soloman Lincoln, Esq., of Hingham.
