Anna Munford was born on January 6th, 1778 in "Blandfield," Essex County, Virginia.  Anna Munford's father was Robert Beverly and her mother was Marie Byrd Carter. She had nine brothers and six sisters, named William, Robert Carter Jr, Robert III, Burton, Carter Sr, Byrd, James Miles, Peter Randolph, McKenzie, Maria, Lucy, Munford, Evelyn Byrd, Jane Bradshaw and Harriet.  She was the seventh youngest of the sixteen children.
