Daniel Joseph was born on May 3rd, 1856. Daniel Joseph's father was Stephen Troxell and his mother was Esther Mickley. His paternal grandparents were John Troxell and Elizabeth Hittle. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Isaac Benjamin, Adam John Peter, Clinton Tilghman Martin, Allen Johnson, Matthias Silas, Sabina, Jane Amanda, Walter N. and Elemina Louise.
