John Hampton 
John was born in 1827 in Wilkes Co., NC. John's father was Micajah Hampton and his mother was Hannah Mikels. His maternal grandparents were David Hugh Michael and Lucinda Doty. He had eight brothers and a sister, named Turner, David, Noah, Rufus, Silas, Lorenzo, Romulus Augustus, William and Mary. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.
