Elizabeth De was born in 1245 in Falde, Scotland. Elizabeth De's father was Robert De+ Brus and her mother was Isabel De+ Clare. Her paternal grandparents were Robert De+ Brus and Isabella De+ Huntingdon; her maternal grandparents were Gilbert Fitzrichard De+ Clare and Isabel+ Marshall. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert De+, Bernard De, William De, John De, Isabella De, Alosia De and Christiana De+. She is the second oldest of the eight children.
