Renaud, known as "le Burguignon", was born in Nevers, Nievre, Bourgogne, France.  "le Burguignon"'s father was Count William I of Nevers and his mother was Ermengarde de Tonnerre.  His paternal grandparents were Count Renaud I of Nevers & Auxerre and Princess Adelaide Havoise Capet of France; his maternal grandfather was Count Renaud of Tonerre and his maternal grandmother is Helvise de Noyen. He had a sister named Ermengarde. He had two half-brothers named Renaud and William.  He died on August 5th, 1089 in Nevers, Nievre, Bourgogne, France.
