Eleanor was born about 1242 in Debden, Saffron Walden, Essex, England.  Eleanor's father was Earl Humphrey de Bohun V of Hereford and her mother was Maud de Avenbury.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry de Bohun and Maud FitzGeoffrey de Mandeville; her maternal grandfather is Walter de Avenbury. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Humphrey and Alice.  She died after June 10th, 1278.

‌Eleanor and John were married in a religious ceremony before 1267.  They had a daughter named Maud.
