William Melvin Shipley 
William Melvin was born in August 1856 in Hamilton Co, Tennessee.1 William Melvin's father was John H Shipley and his mother was Harriet Jane Varner. His paternal grandparents were Orson Shipley and Hannah O Hunt; his maternal grandparents are William Varner and Sebrina Moulton. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Orson, John Moulton, Benjamin Franklin, Rachel Catherine, Amanda Rada, Hannah S and Serena Cordilia. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
