Bertha S. Basham 
Bertha S. was born on July 17th, 1879 in Daviess Co., Kentucky.1 Bertha S.'s father was Jeremiah Henderson Basham and her mother was Sarah Ellen Higgs. Her paternal grandparents were Cary Jackson 'Jack' Basham and Annis Warner; her maternal grandparents were Alfred Higgs and Sarah Jane Calloway. She had eleven brothers and five sisters, named Finous, Harvey, Hilous, Benjamin Harrison (Ben), Eugene C (Gene), Eulace, Edward Otis, Ruthford, Flora, Chester, Harold, Pearl, Carrie, Essie, Anna Lee and Clara Louise. She was the oldest of the seventeen children. She had a half-sister named Mary Jane. She died at the age of 72 on October 24th, 1951 in Tell City, Perry Co., Indiana.1 General Notes
