Wilson Lee was born about 1843 in Mercer Co., Virginia.1 Wilson Lee's father was Burrell B. Bailey and his mother was Nancy Bailey. His paternal grandparents were George C. Bailey and Frances Thompson; his maternal grandparents were SAMUEL L. Bailey and MARY Walker. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Samuel Ingram, George M. D., Charles Alexander, Jonathan Simms, Dallas, Sarah F. and Eunice. He died about 1938 in Mercer Co., West Virginia.1 General Notes

Wilson Lee was a Confederate soldier and fought with Lee in the Batt
Gettysburg on July 13, 1963. He was in Pickett's famous charge with
5,000 men sent across an open valley to drive the Federals from Culp's
Hill and Cemetery Ridge. When Pickett's men were about half way across
the open valley, the Federals opened fire and their ranks were mowed do
with shot and shells and only a handful of men succeeded in reaching
Little Round Top only to be hurled back with great loss. The old soldier
said that more than 3,000 men fell within a few minutes time and he was
shot through the chest with a large rifle ball and he fell within a few
minutes time about the middle of the valley and was picked up next day;
hundreds of soldiers pressing forward climbed over the heaps of wounded
and dead. When he was carried to the makeshift hospital the doctor drew
a silk handkerchief through the bullet wound in his chest.
