John Peters was born about 1833 in Virginia.1   John Peters' father was Masten Bailey and his mother was Juliet Peters.  His paternal grandparents were John Payton Bailey and Nancy W. Davidson; his maternal grandparents were John Peters and Sarah Clay. He had three brothers and a sister, named Pearis, Harrison Henderson, James O. and Julia Ann.  He was the second youngest of the five children. He had six half-brothers and a half-sister, named George P., Elijah Peters, Pembroke, Mathias B., Jr. Bailey, James M. and Jane.  He died on November 19th, 1907.1

‌John Peters and Nancy were married in a religious ceremony before 1855.1   They had six sons and three daughters, named Masten, James M., John William B., Andrew J., Edward P., Chistopher C., Mary, Rebecca and Julia Ann.


John Peters' second family with Malvina Maxwell Bailey

‌John Peters and Malvina Maxwell were married in a religious ceremony on July 17th, 1884 in Mercer Co,  West Virginia.2   They had two sons and three daughters, named Blueford R., Thurmon, Rosie, Donna and Hattie.
