Jane was born about 1838 in Mercer Co., Virginia.1 Jane's father was Masten Bailey and her mother was Rebecca Harman. Her paternal grandparents were John Payton Bailey and Nancy W. Davidson. She had six brothers named George P., Elijah Peters, Pembroke, Mathias B., Jr. Bailey and James M.. She is the oldest of the seven children. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Pearis, Harrison Henderson, John Peters, James O. and Julia Ann.-
