John and Philip were the only ones to stay in Giles county. He was Captain of the 1st Battalion, 86 Regiment of Virginia Militia, in Was of 1812. John was a Magistrate of Giles County and represented Giles County in the State Legislature. He was a shoemaker in Pearisburg and in 1860 employed several people. He also bought 25 acres on New River in 9-22-1870. George Pearis and a Taylor owned adjoining land.
