Catherine was born before 1778 in Montgomery Co., Virginia.1 Catherine's father was John Jacob Peters and her mother was Frances Simms. Her paternal grandfather was JACOB PETERS and her paternal grandmother is ELIZABETH. She had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Phillip, Elijah, Christian Snidow, William, Elizabeth, Mary Frances and Frances Simms. She was the oldest of the nine children.
