Philippa was born in <Mons, Hainaut, Belgium, Netherlands>.1 Philippa's father was Willem III d'Avesnes and her mother was Jeanne De Valois. Her paternal grandparents were Jean II d'Avesnes and Philippa Luxembourg; her maternal grandparents were Charles I Capet and Marguerite di Sicily-Naples. She had three brothers and five sisters, named Jan, Willem IV, Louis, Johanna, Sibylla, Margaretha, Isabella and Agnès. She died on August 15th, 1369 in Windsor Castle, Windsor, Berkshire, England.
