Barent Dewitt 
Barent was born on March 25th, 1706 in Philipsberg, Westchester, NY.1 Barent's father was Barent Dewitt and his mother was Sarah Van Tassel. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Barentsen Dewitt and Tryntje Dutcher; his maternal grandparents were Jan Cornelius Van Tassel and Annetje Alberts Koning (or Terhume). He had four brothers and two sisters, named Andries "Ary", Peter, Paulus, Titus, Catherine and Sarah. He was the third youngest of the seven children.General Notes

Barent DeWitt (b.1705 ) apparently, one of 21 known rioters who on July
17, 1747 broke into the jail at Perth Am boy, NJ and released John
Bainbridge ond other prisoners , in defiance of the sheriff and the
justices of Middlesex Co. for which offense Barent DeWitt an d others were
indicted for high treason .Reaction on the part of the public t o thes
esscapade might have caused some of Barent's brothers to resettle in
