Wyandanch(several spellings )  "wise speaker"
WYANDANCH (sometimes spelled this way )  was grand shaman of the Montauk tribe...in the 1650s......His brother , Nowedonah,  was chief of the Shinnecock tribe , part of the Montauk....
     Date of death listed as 1662 in "The Shinnecock Indians " by Lois Marie Hunter,  (a decendent of Sachem Nowedonah.)"  (but  all other places show 1659 )
also listed as friend of           Captain    Lion Gardiner, Early Englishman.
He is burried at Montauk Point next to his brother, Poggatacut.
