The records of the Church at Sleepy Hollow show Barent and Sara as sponsors at several baptisms in 1704 and 1706.
He was a Tax Collector for Westchester Co, NY. (New York Colonial Documents, Vol.III, p. 659.
Barent's name last appears in Tarrytown in 1709. By 1710 they had settled on the Raritan River in Hunterdon, {now Somerset Co} New Jersey. A Dutch Reformed Church was established there in 1710, Baerent de Wit was elected Senior Deacon.{Presbyterian Historical Society Publications, Vol.I, pp 120-121} The church was originally called Six Mile Run and located near Somerville. On Oct. 13, 1711 Baerent De Wit was named Senior Elder. {Publications of the Genealogical Society of Pennsylvania, 1912, pp. 36,31,36; 1914, pp. 175-177}
Barent DeWitt was still living in 1723 when he was again a ruling elder of Six Mile Run Church.
It is not known when or where Barent and his wife Sara died, but it was probably at their old home near Somerville. There are no gravestones nor is there any will.
