James John Spradley 
James John was born in 1832 in Montgomery, Montgomery Co., AL.1 James John's father was Warren Charles Spradley and his mother was Alcey D. Malone. His paternal grandparents were James, Sr. Spradley and Mary Manning. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Michael Decalb Charles, Chapman Levi, Bryant Augustus, Zachariah Tucker, Sarah Ann, Caroline Amelia and Frances Jane. He was the fifth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 32 on October 30th, 1864 in ?.1 General Notes

Jim was born in Alabama and grew up in Montgomery, Butler, and Lowndes
County. When the Civil War came on he and his cousin Bryant Eugene
Spradley got together and joined the Confederation Army. They joined as
privates, for Company A, Artillery, Battalion, Hilliard's Legion,
Alabama, Volunteers, on the llth of May 1863, in Montgomery County. They
were signed up by Capt. Glasgow for three years. He was later part of the
59th Alabama Inf. Company "I".
The two made an agreement that if either one of them died during
their service and the other one knew about it that they would each see
that the other had a proper burial.
Bryant was told that Jim had died of a disease. Bryant ask for
permission to go and see about proper burial. His captain told him "No",
Bryant said "well" I am going any way, to which his captain replied,
"then take my horse".
Bryant and Jim were married to sisters, Penny Frances Todd and Amelia
Ann Todd.
B. Elmer didn't find out where this burial was.
The tax roll for Lowndes County, Alabama, for 1860 show Jim owned a
Silver watch and some type of vehicle with a value of $75.00.
