John M. was born in 1841.1 John M.'s father was Glasinguin Martin and his mother was Malinda Garrett. His paternal grandparents were John Garrett Martin and Elizabeth ??; his maternal grandparents were Stephen Garrett and Drucilla Elizabeth Putnam. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Hollingsworth, Milton, James Alexander, Christopher C., Joseph P., Stephen D., Florenthia, Sophia J., Lucinda E. and Sally. He was the third oldest of the eleven children.-
