Ira J. was born on June 15th, 1891 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Ira J.'s father was George H. Gothard and his mother was Mariah Elizabeth Bridges. His paternal grandparents were Travis Glenn Gothard and Aletha Williams; his maternal grandparents were William Bridges and Delila Jane Jacks. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Travis Glenn, William Stephens, George Ellis, Eric A., Jessie, Lula M., Roxie and Cora. He died at the age of 76 in February 1968 in AL.1 General Notes

"I. J. Gothard and Miss Belle Allen were happily married at the bride’s
home Sunday morning, Feb 1, at half past nine o’clock, by Rev. W. T.
Peston. Immediately after the ceremony the couple with some invited
guest, went to the home of Geo. W. Gothard, the father of the bridegroom,
where a reception and feast were prepared for them. We congratulate the
young couple, and wish for them a long, happy and useful life."(1)
