William Stephens Gothard 
William Stephens was born on March 5th, 1883 in Coosa Co., AL.1 William Stephens' father was George H. Gothard and his mother was Mariah Elizabeth Bridges. His paternal grandparents were Travis Glenn Gothard and Aletha Williams; his maternal grandparents were William Bridges and Delila Jane Jacks. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Travis Glenn, George Ellis, Ira J., Eric A., Jessie, Lula M., Roxie and Cora. He died at the age of 82 on March 12th, 1965 in Dadeville, Tallapoosa Co., AL. He was buried in Camp Hill City Cemetery, Camp Hill, Tallapoosa Co., AL.1 1 General Notes

"A Glorious Fourth
Quite a number of families gathered at the residence of Mr. Levi
Washam’s, better known as the Logan Place, and spent the fourth
gloriously in the beautiful grove. They served ice cream, lemonade, and
coca-cola, and at twelve o’clock the ladies began to spread white cloths
and my! My! Such a grand dinner they have prepared. Everybody ate to
their satisfaction. Those being present were Mr. and Mrs. W. S Washam
and two children, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Gothard and two children, Mr. and
Mrs. Miller and daughter, Miss Jeannie, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Gothard, Mr.
and Mrs. Acie Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Coon Washam, Mr. and Mrs. I. J.
Gothard, and Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Gothard.
Late in the afternoon a few songs were sang and played and all began
to leave for their homes prasing the good time and the dear old fourth."

According to Madge Arnoid, the Waldrips built a drugstore just across the
road from the store for the purpose of helping Dr. Whetstone in his
practice. The drug store was operated by Mr. and Mrs. Will Gothard. All
the doctors used this drug store. Even Dr. Penton from Goodwater, who had
some patients here, used this drug store, according to Louise Hickey.
