His paternal grandparents were James, Sr. Castellaw and Sarah Williams. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Bartholomew, John Dawson, Henry Dawson, Thomas Jefferson, Charlotte, Nancy W. and Harriet. He was the third youngest of the eight children. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, named William, John, James C., Elizabeth, Prudence, Martha, Sarah and Penelope. He died in 1821 in Bertie Co., NC.1 -
