John De Charleton III Baron of was born in 1363. John De Charleton III Baron of's father was John De Mortimer Lord of Powys and his mother was Alice FitzAlan. His paternal grandparents were John De Charleton II Baron of Powys and Maud De Mortimer; his maternal grandparents were Richard Fitzalan 10th Earl of Arundel and Eleanor Plantagenet. John de Cherleton, 3rd Baron Powys, was summoned to Parliament from 1362 to 1373. He was aged 26 in 1360, hence born 1334 (which is 3 years before Joan Stafford's parents were married, 1337, so of course she could not have been his mother). She was his wife and was the daughter of Sir Ralph Stafford, Original Knight of the Garter (their daughter Elizabeth Stafford married Sir John Ferrers, from whom you descend through John Whitney), and his wife, Margaret de Audley, of royal descent from Edward I, King of England. After Sir John Cherleton died his wife Joan married 2nd in Gilbert, Lord Talnot. She died before 1397.
