John De Mortimer Lord of Powys 
John De Mortimer Lord of was born in 1340. John De Mortimer Lord of's father was John De Charleton II Baron of Powys and his mother was Maud De Mortimer. His paternal grandparents were John de Charlton Baron John De Cherleton Lord Of Charleton and Hawise De La Pole; his maternal grandparents were Roger De Mortimer II Baron Mortimer and Joan De Geneville. He had a sister named Jane. He was the older of the two children. He died at the age of 79 in 1419.General Notes
John de Cherleton, 3rd Baron Powys, was summoned to Parliament from 1362 to 1373. He was aged 26 in 1360, hence born 1334 (which is 3 years before Joan Stafford's parents were married, 1337, so of course she could not have been his mother). She was his wife and was the daughter of Sir Ralph Stafford, Original Knight of the Garter (their daughter Elizabeth Stafford married Sir John Ferrers, from whom you descend through John Whitney), and his wife, Margaret de Audley, of royal descent from Edward I, King of England. Sir John Cherleton died 1374 and his wife Joan married 2nd in 1379 Gilbert, Lord Talnot. She died before 1397.
