John de Charlton Baron was born in 1287 in Charlton, Wrockwardine, County Salop, England. John de Charlton Baron's father was Robert De Cherleton. He had a sister named Ellena. He was the younger of the two children. He died at the age of 66 in 1353.General Notes
John lived to the age--so unusual at that period--of 85 and died 1353, having for 40 years received summons to Parliament. He was designated as Lord of Powys. They were married by gift of Edward II. (Burke says he was younger son of Sir John de Cherleton, Knight, of Appley Castle, County Salop, not Robert de Cherleton.) July 26, 1313, John le Cherleton was summoned to Parliament as Baron Cherleton de Powys, and from that period to July 25, 1353. His arms were: Or a lion rampant gu, arms of the Princes of Powys, presumed to have been adopted consequent on his marriage.
They had a son and a daughter, named John De Charleton II Baron of and Isabelle.

John De Charleton II Baron of Powys
